Recent years have seen an significant increase in the amount of land reclamation and remediation, in order to re-develop previously unusable or contaminated land.
We have been involved with several such major schemes.

Warren Gorge at Chafford Hundred near Grays in Essex formed part of the old Blue Circle chalk quarries, where excavation was completed decades ago and the land left derelict, to be abused by fly-tippers!
As main Contractors for Pelham Homes, in joint venture with Blue Circle, we have carried out remediation to hundreds of hectares of land, creating new areas for housing and schools, whilst protecting and enlarging several natural water areas for leisure use and now given SSSI status.

The contracts at Chafford Hundred involved the removal of some 250,000 tonnes of contaminated ground and the specialist skills necessary to ensure the safe transport and disposal of the contaminants either to off-site facilities or within purpose built landscape areas on-site.
These materials where carefully processed to separate all organic and contaminated factions from inert materials which can be filled conventionally.

Contracts to remediate an old coal yard and transform the visitor's centre  at the "Heart of the Forest" National Park were undertaken in 1996.
The contract, for NW Leicestershire District, involved extensive ground modelling and the construction of a lake and amphitheatre

The above examples represent a small number of the many contracts we have carried out, to remediate and cleanse previously contaminated land. These have often been carried out for the redevelopment of commercial land and public utilities as well as providing new domestic housing space.
