LANCASTER EARTHMOVING LTD

Bulk Earthmoving

As is typical of most earthmoving contractors, our traditional work load in the past has been based on the bulk earthworks necessary for road and bridge construction.
In recent years, we have had to diversify to make up any reduction  in our order book that the downturn of government spending on road construction has caused.
Some of our major roads contracts, both past and present, are outlined below…...

Lancaster Earthmoving Ltd has carried out several major contracts on the A11 in Cambridgeshire. The Red Lodge to Newmarket bypass in 1992, Six-mile bottom to Four Wentways in 1993 and finally completing the link to the M11 with the Four Wentways to Stumps Cross contract in 1995.
These works were carried out as subcontracts to
French Kier and Jackson Civil Engineering respectively.

A413 Wendover Bypass--Undertaken for Fitzpatrick Contractors Ltd in 1996, the contract involved works to construct the new road alignment adjacent to a railway.
Other road contracts carried out with
Fitzpatrick include:
    A47 Tuddenham Bypass--Norfolk
    A23 Pease Pottage to Handcross--Sussex
Chafford Hundred Contract 9A and 9--Essex
    M1 Junction 2 to 4, Deansbrook Viaduct

We have carried out a significant number of roadworks contracts for May Gurney Construction Ltd. The A13 Wennington to Mar Dyke was carried out with the MG/Fitzpatrick JV in 1997/9 and the A289 Gillingham Northern Link with the MG/Christiani Neilson JV during the same period.
Other contracts include:
    A149 Smallburgh Bypass--Norfolk.
    A17 Holbeach Bypass--Lincolnshire.
    A17 Leadenham Bypass-- Lincolnshire.
    A45 Higham Ferrers Bypass--Northants.

Other areas of works allowing to use our bulk earthmoving fleet to its maximum has been in the development of Birmingham and East Midlands Airports. Contracts at both locations, have seen the expansion of taxiways and aprons and a recent sizeable extension to the runway at East Midlands.
We have excavated for new sewerage treatment facilities in many areas in East Anglia and have carried out a sizeable contract to carry out bulk excavation for the new Norfolk and Norwich Hospital.
Work to resurface runways and taxiways have involved us with contracts at RAF Lakenheath and Mildenhall in Suffolk, RAF Coltishall in Norfolk, whilst the construction of reinforced shelters took us to RAF Alconbury in Cambridgeshire in 1992

The above details outline some of the major capital works we have been involved with as subcontractors.
The list is long and varied and includes many clients including AMEC, Mowlem Civil Engineering, John Laing PLC and  Pelham Homes, to name just a few.
